Re: Swing out Sister new cd

Okay, enough! I understand why the Nikki Jean track prompted a retaliation (unmelodic , I know, but I - like Burt - have always had a soft spot for city kids). Nevertheless, SOS isn`t all THAT great. Here are a couple of madeleines from the `60s for the old folks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF4...

Nikki Jean Redux

Okay, it`s not a Bacharach cover...and I still don`t know her personally...but I`m hyping her return anyway.
This showed up in my Spam box of all places last week:

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

The argument for the "Hit Parade" usually runs thus: Most people attending these performances are only casual fans and are familiar only with the tried-and-true. They expect the familiar and will be disappointed with anything else. My rejoinder is that, of course, some "hits" mus...

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

Over the years Burt expressed frustration with the tempos at which he originally recorded a few songs, another well-known example being "...Prayer." Nevertheless, he retained the familiar tempos when recording and performing his own renditions. He has always been inexplicably unwilling to ...

Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach

I`m sure I posted this years ago but we`re in such a rut here anyway another rerun can`t hurt. The song was actually composed by Lalo Schifrin whose major claim to fame (as American Baby Boomers will recall) was writing the theme for the TV show Mission:Impossible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74...

Speaking of the under-rated and nearly forgotten, you should see the documentary film, What Happened, Miss Simone.
I`d provide a link but it probably wouldn`t work.

This is an example of what I meant by his being under-rated (for you youngsters in the room):

Re: Herb Alpert's next album includes new Bacharach-Costello composition

I`ve always wanted to hear the lyric to "Dancing Fool". I think Anthony Newley was very much under-rated.
As I`ve written before, I wish Burt would open up his archives before he goes. There`s so much that hasn`t been released and should be.

Unless I`m missing the joke again (always a possibility at my stage of chronological advancement), I think the line is "Out of synch."
But I could be wrong.

Blame the booze and the coke.
That`s also why Suspending Disbelief collapsed into a coma after the first few tracks.

Breakwater Cat was the decade late follow up to the beautiful Sunshower collaboration with Thelma Houston. Only the first half of the album was comprised of Webb songs and, honestly, they weren`t his best. It was the disco era and they were trying to fit in. But this is still lovely: https://www.you...

I just want to know what purpose on earth "Wives and Lovers" could have served being placed anywhere in The Exorcist.

Re: Swing out Sister new cd

Having just checked out Spotify, it seems that their first, great album is inexplicably not available, so here`s the first of YouTube trail:

Re: Swing out Sister new cd

I`ve listened to a few of these tracks now - and they`re certainly "pretty" enough, but my decaying mind keeps being thrown back to Roger Nichols and the Small Circle of Friends.
I`d provide a link but these don`t always effectively cross the Atlantic. Try Spotify.

Okay, Blue just enlightened me.
Apologies all around for being too old to get the reference.
I`m going to bed now.
