Who was that masked "Guitar Man"?

I recently read an interesting article on the Wrecking Crew that related how Larry Knechtel played the wah-wah solo in "Guitar Man". It also contained an interesting statement to this effect. "Whether they realise it or not, most people's favourite band of the 1960s was the Wrecking C...

Yeah! I really love those because you get some of the artiste "nude" as it were. There isn't enough of it. More please, artistes.

At the risk of sounding like a cracked record (of a BB toon, of course) my favourite intro would have to be that itty-bitty single word stripped naked by Dusty, "The" from "The Look of Love". Okay, I'm clearly obsessed with the song, but what a way to go ...

Nice distraction - the ones I know are mostly in a cluster. 2."when there's so much love in my heart, tell me why we had to part..." Message to Michael? 4."when 2 men go out to face each other...only one returns...." The man who shot (crack!) Liberty Vallance. 5."you gotta s...

Hi David, I was also with you in that audience and thank you for your accurate review - I thought that apart from the hard seats, the Vector arena was good. I'm extremely pleased for you that the Gods-of-Happy-Meetings were on your side, as they were for me in Hawai'i two years ago. I never imagined...

If you can find any TJ live LPs from the 60s Vegas shows, treat yourself to a listen, especially to the between-song banter.

TJ: "Crikey, isn't it 'ot in 'ear, ladies ... "
(Cue: many ladies screaming as another shirt button bites the dust.)

So now, Steveo, you can see why the Look of Love sax thing is so crucial to my well-being and others too, I'm heartened to see. I can vaguely remember finding out about Vic Flick (or should that be "Flick.... Vic Flick" in a library book about John Barry some years ago. There was also a bi...

Hi Steveo, the track I'm curious about is the Reg Guest single version. I wondered about the alto/tenor crossover thing too, and have also noticed that Burt sometimes scores in Eb, which I think is the key alto saxes come in. I thought tenors were in Bb. Perhaps we all could do with some sax educati...

Well, they sure had something going for them, otherwise Tim Hardin wouldn't have written that song about wanting to be Karen and Richard's brother! Completeeeeeeely off-thread now, but I think their version of "Desperado" is exceptional. If hell had frozen over, Karen's voice on the openin...

You're quite right, Enormous - the piano vamps just leave you back at the start again, suggesting some kind of beautiful infinity.

So I think thanks to nowmedical's not-silly question, I have and maybe others have found something new in this song's ending.

*sigh*

The most important person of all ...

First, I've always been in the Monty Norman camp. Second, I think, with the help of you all, I am learning something about myself. This is a need to recognize the player of pivotal parts on famous recordings when the composer has already been paid their due. And I'm using Hal's Birthday thread to ex...
