First recording of Loneliness Remembers What Happiness Forgets
I'd always assumed that Dionne Warwick was the first to record 'Loneliness Remembers What Happiness Forgets', but I've now discovered courtesy of Second-Hand Songs that a singer from New Zealand called Allison Durbin cut it a year before in 1969 for her album 'Soft And Soulful'. I can't find any inf...

Re: Burt on Air Supply's "Even the Nights Are Better"
I can honestly say that I've never heard 'Arthur's Theme' compared to 'All The Things You Are' before, it's nearly always been 'Killing Me Softly With His Song' or occasionally the Cat Stevens number, 'Wild World'. But yes, it's a chord progression that's been used a lot in popular music and I'm not...

Re: Tick Tock Goes The Clock from the Boston Tryout of PP
Jim, the demo of 'Tick Tock Goes The Clock' from June 1968 featuring the singers Rose Marie Jun and Leslie Miller with Burt at the piano and some slightly dodgy backing vocals is found on the album 'Broadway First Take vol.2'. https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=81&v=v_IMi98sZr0&ebc=AN...

Tick Tock Goes The Clock from the Boston Tryout of PP
Here's an extremely rare recording of 'Tick Tock Goes The Clock' followed by 'Turkey Lurkey Time' taken from one of the Boston Tryout shows of 'Promises, Promises' in December 1968. It's obviously an amateur recording and the quality isn't great but it's a fascinating listen all the same, especially...

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)
Apparently blue-eyed soul merchant and former Doobie Brother Michael McDonald has been performing since his mid-teens and in 1968 at the age of 16 he made a recording of 'There's Always Something There To Remind Me'. Although he sounds remarkably mature and soulful for someone so young, he's not yet...

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)
Blue, yes it's a beautiful track and shows a side to Led Zeppelin's bassist that most people wouldn't have known existed. Of course John Paul Jones along with another future member of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page, played on sessions for Burt's 'Hitmaker' album in 1965. I hadn't realised until recently t...

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)
Madeline Bell has recorded a few Bacharach numbers in her time and his influence is very pronounced in a song that she co-wrote with John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, a track in which he not only plays piano but also arranged and produced. In fact he was at the helm for the whole of Madeline's 'Comin...

Talking about Dusty Springfield's love of Bacharach, here she is with Martha Reeves and the Vandellas on Ready Steady Go in 1964 performing 'Wishing And Hoping'.

Here's Madeline Bell talking about how it was working as a background singer on Dusty Springfield's recording sessions and also about Dusty's love of Bacharach.

Re: Burt Bacharach Documentary (2001)
Blue, that's a documentary I've never seen before so thanks for posting it here. Although I don't think there's much that's new to us it was good to see the likes of Steve Lawrence, Neil Simon and Leiber & Stoller who we're not so used to hearing talking about Burt and to get their different per...

Re: Bacharach Reimagined Piano
I saw the Bacharach Reimagined show at the Menier Chocolate factory and if I recall correctly the piano was an upright, which depending on the make would normally cost anything from a grand to around £8,000. I think only an auctioneer specialising in the world of entertainment would be able to value...

Re: Alt Version of "Pennies in a Jar"...
A live rendition of 'Pennies In A Jar' featuring Nikki Jean alone at the piano and of better quality than the live performance posted on here before. The song's piano chord inversions are so typical of Burt.

Re: Alt Take of "Pennies in a Jar"...
'Pennies In A Jar' is very 21st century Bacharach.
