Re: Burt with Marion McPartland

Interesting topic that, Jazz and Bacharach. I was under the impression that Burt's work was actually quite popular with major jazz artists, the list of jazz greats covering Burt is pretty impressive to me! George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, Bill Frisell, Bill Evans, Pat Metheny, Stan Getz, ...

Re: Hollywood Palace Remastered

Hi Blair! Yes indeed, for this particular TV appearance, Burt definitely used the exact recordings from Hitmaker! & Reach Out: it was a lip-synched performance. You'll notice there is not a microphone in sight! "Always There" was only slightly shortened out during the broadcast...The h...

Hollywood Palace Remastered

I am a Burt Bacharach collector & fan. I have recently undertook the huge task of restoring & remastering a few of his old TV clips & appearances, vintage footage that had incredibly poor, degraded, 50 year-old audio… This is a 60's clip of Burt on "Hollywood Palace" performing...

Re: And Then You Know What He Did...rare Dionne track.

This track is fascinating, it's almost like a prelude to the Futures album or even Woman...with a much more freeform & complex approach to songwriting, maybe closer to jazz/classical music, I find it very interesting.

Re: Dionne Warwick - The windows of the world 2013 WEA

Message to Michael is missing from Here I Am. That's the one thing I was disappointed with. It's a very important song. If you know where else it ended up, let me know.

Re: Dionne Warwick - The windows of the world 2013 WEA

How much you want to bet that these bonus tracks will be included when the CDs are released in the US? This is just the usual record company scam so people have to buy the same albums twice. Pathetic. False advertising, deception, there is just no excuse...I spent hundreds of dollars on these CDs an...

Re: Together

I am not a fan of the Karima cover, it's very well sung, but the original is very special, unbeatable & sounds incredible on CD. The combination of the sax, McDonald's voice & the female singer makes it a real winner.

Re: Dionne Warwick - The windows of the world 2013 WEA

Yes, and "Message to Michael" is not on Here I Am. The CDs sound great but at that hefty import price, the prior false advertising from the record company is UNFORGIVABLE.

This is the last time I will ever buy music from a major record label.

Re: Together

Just want to say I have this on CD and it's an amazing album. I've been listening to it over & over, Such an overlooked gem, I prefer it to Woman & Futures, it's in the same sophisticated musical mould, but it's tighter, more focused maybe due to the short duration of the LP...Imagine this b...

Re: Dionne's Catalogue Expanded and Remastered...

They never credited musicians on these albums, let alone background singers...I think it's the Breakaways who sing on all of Hitmaker! they sang on Jimi Hendrix's Hey Joe... For Dionne's albums, I always assumed it was Dee Dee & Cissy? There are a few moments of crazy high notes interludes on He...

Gladys Knight!

I recently came across Love Is Fire Love Is Ice upon recommendation of someone in this forum, this is a beautiful song! I love the way she sings the word "flashback"... I am a huge fan of Gladys' work on Motown, for me she is possibly the most beautiful female voice in the history of popul...
