Re: Another rare Bacharach tune

I think you're right, Vincent! I love the combination of the melody note and the underlying chord on the refrain question, "Who's got the action?" John could certainly pull this off well.

Another rare Bacharach tune

This one is called "Who's Got the Action?" I'd never heard of it, nor had I heard of the singer, Phil Colbert. I like it! While the arrangement is not Burt's (and it shows; an example, I guess, of how in the early years the honchos didn't trust him to do his own arranging and producing) it...

Never heart this one before...

A song by Burt and Steve Krikorian, recorded by Chicago. I'd never heard it nor heard OF it before. Not one of the greats, but for Burt fans, every newly uncovered song is worth at least a listen.

I Just Don't Know / We Just Don't Know

An appropriate song for the day and the situation.

burtolympics

Perhaps someone has already posted this in these days of the summer games. In case not, here it is, Burt and Carole's "One More Chance for Heaven." Surely not one of the greats, for either of them; but anything by Burt is worth another listen. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlQtWljH...

Re: Question about the Futures album

After checking the album sleeves again, I notice that the Futures album, while recorded in studios in NY and mastered in LA, gives credit to the "Philadelphia Strings," naming them all (13 of them). I'm guessing that's the group Burt referred to when I saw him in concert in the mid-70s. I'...

Re: Question about the Futures album

But wasn't Woman recorded in Houston, with the Houston symphony?

Question about the Futures album

In the mid-70s, I was at a concert with Burt in Westbury, Long Island, and he was talking about having recorded a forth-coming album with a university orchestra, if I'm not mistaken. He was lamenting the hassle he would get from Hollywood and union orchestras about doing extra takes, working longer ...

US, by Burt, an interesting version

Interesting take on a little-known Burt song. I had only heard this sung by Joshie Armstead, I think, on the Futures album. But this is not bad; some of the arranging is a little overdone perhaps, but I actually enjoy this version more than the one on the Futures album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Looking for an-already-posted song

Hi gang. Some time ago, someone posted here a link to a Burt song on YouTube or some other Tube. It had been written by Burt for Michael Jackson's "This Is It" show, I believe; but the song was ultimately rejected by Michael's people. The song may have even been titled "This Is It;&qu...

This one has been posted up here before, but I ran across it recently and really like it. Would love to hear a Dionne version of it.

another oldie, little known - "Everyone Needs Someone to Lov

This is a Burt and Hal tune released by Cliff Richard in the UK in 1965. Not unforgettable, but enjoyable. Enjoy!

Re: reaction to last night's PBS program

You know, Ron, I wanted her to be there but because I, too, had read something about a security clearance problem, I wasn't expecting her to be there. Though, for sure, it's hard to imagine why there would be a problem with her clearance. Could it have been that she didn't want to be there?

reaction to last night's PBS program

Well, I was disappointed, but probably because I didn't have realistic expectations. The performers were all OK, I think. Probably the best vocal rendition, for me, was Rumer's take on "A House is Not a Home." And Stevie wowed everyone with his harmonica take on "Alfie." But at t...
